A PEEK AT OUR CITY

I haven't a thing to post AGAIN! I'm so glad to hear that I'm not the only one who is struggling to come up with something funny these days! There are so many of my favorite blog authors who share a seat with me on the same sad little boat. At least they're still funny when they think they aren't. ie; Central Snark with Nothin’.

I can't even comment funny! I've been dragging these shackles around with a sour puss on my face for weeks now!

My last post was just complete gibberish about what I'm not sure of, even after I re-read and read it again. Two of my children came to me and said, "you know, your last post really wasn't all that funny mom" and "I didn't even laugh once throughout the whole thing. You need to go back to your original style of writing and stop worrying about who's reading it because we can tell you're trying too hard." Thanks! Thanks so much Siskel and Ebert! BTW you're grounded!
CRITIQUE THAT! :0P

Okay, so it wasn't funny and it probably made me look really sick and deranged that I would offer excrement to my children for dinner.

Anyhow, I still have nothing funny to offer up, so I thought I would post a little tour of our city.
theresa of The Rain in Spain… gave us a cool little tour of the shopping she did in Pamplona, Spain. The Rain in Spain...: All in a Day's Shopping
This is a little tour right back at ya theresa. Not as exciting as beautiful Spain, but I love it here none-the-less. I left out all of the modern shopping areas which are starting to boom in our area. Ooh, and don't forget to click on the "more photos" button. (and make sure your volume is up for the full experience).
I didn't embed it into the post because the frame is to large. I need to get a wider layout. Anyhow here it is:

Very nice, and a great presentation too. Those downtown buildings look a lot like the ones we have here. Your town has nothing to envy about Pamplona, and your river even has boats. Ours is usually just a trickle of water. Just love your office, now that is a cool place to work! I wouldn't go back to Cali either.

Thank you! Yes, Cali is too much hustle and bustle for us! I do miss the beaches and the Freeways though!

Hey, and by the way, thanks for the shout-out. I meant to tell you in the previous comment, but got so carried away by the pictures that I forgot. I don't miss the freeways, and we've got some great beaches not too far away.

Zoning Out Again said...

We have no beaches here!
Well if we want to drive a few hours to New Jersey or out to Long Island we could but it's a hike.
You don't miss the Freeways? I miss it in San Diego. Although I hear SD is getting to be just as bad as LA was so maybe we got out just in time. I used to love the 6 lanes on each side and the exits for every road. I miss driving on highway 101 and the 5 along side the ocean up near Santa Barbara where I grew up.

The Thruways here in NY are a pain in the butt. No congestion but only one exit per large city/town and you have to pay tolls at every exit. >:0P

I don't miss needing a car to go everywhere, and traffic jams. Over here I can just get on the bus and in ten minutes I'm downtown, from there you can go everywhere walking. I used to be afraid to walk in Cali because there were so many scary stories out there. I wouldn't mind going back to visit, but I wouldn't want to live there.

You know, there's something to be said for daughters who will be nothing if not honest with you. I have to agree (not that your last post was dreck) but that when you just let it flow and let it come out from you, the authenticity just shines. We all have those weeks or posts though.

Having said that, I loved your tour of your city...it makes me pine away for such a life. Very nice, thanks for sharing that.

g~ Yes honesty from our children is cherished!!!!!!!

Yes, natural flow is better.
I think I became nervous after one of my recent posts grabbed a lot of traffic and more comments than usual. Of course I was out there begging people to come over and they did. The pressure was insane!!!!!! :0)
Not being so overworked helps the flow as well! I'm taking the kiddos camping in a week so I can't wait to unwind and come back with some good stuff! :0) Thanks for the compliment on our city.
It really is incredible out here.

I'll be posting some photos of New Paltz and Mohawk Mountain in a few posts from now.

I thought I left a comment here last night. It's not hear now. Did I only imagine that I left it? I mean, you wouldn't have deleted it, right? Am I finally losing my mind?

A] You know you lost you're mind a long time ago!
B} No you didn't leave me a message
C) I would never~ever~ever delete a message of yours! EVA!
So come back and re-write it! :0)

But how can I recreate the magic? This looks like a job for - BEER! Fortunately, I'm just going out to hit the pool hall. If I'm not back in 4 hours, drunk and commenting, then don't come looking for me. I'll show up eventually.

I probably clicked the wrong button and left my comment on someone else's blog. They are probably thinking "man, the Cap's losing his touch, that made no sense at all..."

Zoning Out Again said...

LIKELY STORY!!!!!!!!!
Hit the wrong button my @$$!
:0) Be a man and leave a real comment! and you call yourself a captain?! :0))))

Ooh I apologize! I skipped over you. That's great that you can walk to everything and don't need a car. I need to start doing that as my office is only a mile from my house.
It's just a small sacrifice to join in the effort to help fix global warming!!! (including the reduction of my ever-enlargening buttocks!)

Ok, I'm back now, and ready to leave a real comment. Unfortunately, LBT, I think I may have drank too much to leave you a top-notch, dazzling Classic Captain (tm) Comment.

See, I normally have an 8-12 beer "excellent comment" window that I try to squeeze all my best responses into, and, as you can see, The Captain's had a few too many (hiccup) Guinness's at the pool hall... plus I got my ass kicked at 8 ball about 5 times in a row by some skinny little girl with orange hair, which isn't exactly a confidence booster, so pardon me if I don't have my game face on.

so.

Where was I?

Oh yeah, the comment. Hold up, I gotta go take a piss.

Ok, I'm back now.

Ok, here it comes. One comment, coming right up.

Oh, wait - I'm really feeling it this time... oh, yeah, baby, this is gonna be a GOOD one.... this is gonna be one HELL of a comment... it's gonna be funny, insightful, eloquent... and it's going to just rock your world! Oh, hell yeah! I haven't felt a comment like this in a long time, better hang on, girl!

Oh baby, here it comes... here it.. here it ...

*snore*

(sorry, babe. Next time I won't drink so much, I promise. But hey, at least my spelling and punctuation was good, though, right?)

Zoning Out Again said...

Ya know...it just figures!!!
Are we going to have to get you some Comment Viagra?

Captain Smack said...

This is the first time that's ever happened - I swear!

Zoning Out Again said...

uh huh! It's okay...we'll let that one slide just this once! :0)

late (as usual) to this party -- sure glad i made it before you moved on to, uh, nothin' else! ; )

and i ADORED this video "tour" of your city. reminds me of many of the charming villages and towns we've encountered as we've moved around the east coast (Chicago suburbs are like this, too). your office building is awesome!

well done, oh "girl who has nothing to say"! far as i can tell, you've got my posts about "nothing" beat by a mile! (i lived in San Diego several years ago, and even then the traffic was getting out of hand. my sister is currently living near La Jolla, and says Interstate 5 is freaking insane. oy.) xox

Snuppy~
Wow you lived in SD? How long ago? I was there from 1989 to '98.
I LOVE LA JOLLA!!!!!!!! I spent quite a bit of time there on the beaches for my college Marine Biology courses. We dissected a SHARK! I thought dissecting frogs in Junior High was gross!

I lived in Mission Valley right across the street from the San Diego Mission Basilica, 1st Mission in California and only a tenth of a mile from then Jack Murphy Stadium. (Now Qualcomm).

I miss all of the great points of interest, like Balboa Park, the SD Zoo, which we had bought annual passes to and would take the kids to visit a different animal every weekend then ride this 100 year old Carousel. It was great!

Ahhh, I always say I would never move back, but whenever I tell people about it, everything I loved about it comes flooding back.
Thanks for getting me to reminisce.

Thanks for the props on the tour of our city. I'll be doing more in the future because there are so many cool spots in the Hudson Valley and Catskills.
You'll have to give me a shout if you and the NBFFs ever come up this way again.

Man, we were living pretty close to each other. I lived in Ontario until I went to college in 87, then I moved to Riverside. I used to go down to the beach in La Jolla sometimes, just think you and I were wandering around there at the same time and we didn't even know it. It's a small world after all!

robkroese said...

You know Siskel died like 400 years ago, right? How old are you anyway?

Zoning Out Again said...

theresa~ Yeah we could have been hanging out in the same places.
It's a very cool thought. Ahh, we can't dwell on the what ifs, so instead let's just hope to someday meet up in Spain or you could come out to visit NY! Maybe we could meet up with the Snark NBFFs for a little shopping in Manhatten! :0)
